[.lightbox] ABOUT HIP HOP HUB [.lightbox]

[.lightbox] In 2016 established Rapolitics, with support from [.lightbox][.white] Nordea Foundation [.white][.lightbox], the first nationwide network for hip hop actors in Denmark. During 2016-2018, we engaged thousands of young people in hip hop culture through workshops, seminars and reinterpretations of Danish cultural heritage, and we launched Denmark's first hip hop collection curated by young people. [.lightbox] In 2020, with continued support from the Nordea Foundation, we have embarked on a new chapter in Hip Hop Hub's history with a desire to continue to work focused on educating the young cultural entrepreneurs of tomorrow. We will give a nationwide vitamin injection to youth culture through several local cultural activities and events created by young people for young people. [.lightbox]

[.lightbox] LIGHTHOUSE MODEL [.lightbox]

[.lightbox] In 2020, we have established three 'lighthouses' in Jutland, in Zealand and in the capital. The lighthouses are regional go-to places for young people, helping to anchor the Hip Hop Hub network locally and strengthen youth culture throughout the country. [.lightbox]

[.lightbox] Each lighthouse is made up of two organisations that work together to create a safe environment for young people to develop local culture. Each lighthouse is run by knowledgeable coaches, experienced project managers and highly vetted youth teams who receive training in cultural creation. [.lightbox]

[.lightbox] Our Hip Hop Hub lighthouses are the obvious gathering points where young people can create local culture for and with other young people in creative communities. [.lightbox]

HIP HOP HUB'S YOUTH TEAM ARE TOMORROW'S NEW CULTURE CREATORS

In close cooperation with our three lighthouses in Zealand, in Jutland and in the Capital Region, during 2020 we have assembled a strong team of 15 young people who are passionate about making a difference to the culture of their local area. The youth team has more or less free rein to create the cultural offerings and projects they are passionate about and can get help and guidance from experienced project managers in Rapolitics and in the six lighthouse organizations.

In 2021, the youth team has lifted the veil on their first concept Jungle Desk which is an online and physical showcase concept with live streamed concerts and artist talks. Jungle Desk made its debut in Democracy Garage for Folkemødet 2021.

[.lightbox] MORE EDUCATIONAL OFFERS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE ACROSS THE COUNTRY [.lightbox]

[.lightbox] One of our goals with Hip Hop Hub, in collaboration with our six lighthouse organizations, is to increase educational offerings for young people across the country. That is why in the spring of 2021 we have unveiled a total of six new teaching packages that each lighthouse has developed. The six workshops take participants through everything from street art and urban renewal to rap and music production. [.lightbox]

RESEARCH

It is important for us that the experiences we have gained during the project reach a larger and nationwide target audience. Therefore, in 2020, we have invited a group of university-related researchers and practitioners to meet in two seminars to discuss, qualify and examine our methods and experiences in the project. At the same time, we encourage groups of Master Specialty students to follow our project and come up with new perspectives on our methods and work to strengthen Danish youth.

The students' work will be followed by the research network, while the results will be included in the evaluation carried out by the research network together with Participant Denmark must present at the end of the project. The report will explain how we are creating even more courageous and democratic young people and, in addition, contribute new knowledge about our methodological and pedagogical approach. The results were strongly positive and were presented at a closing conference that we held at Youth Island in 2022.

Support: Hip Hop Hub is supported with DKK 5.4 million by the Nordea Foundation
