Their journey on foot marked the beginning of Manilla’s lifelong fight for human rights—both nationally and globally. With over a decade of activism, she has used her personal story as part of the fight for justice and representation in society. Recognized as Woman of the Year 2025 by the Danish Women’s Society and recipient of the Human Rights Award 2022, Manilla Ghafuri has cemented the importance of her work. She uses her platform to highlight complex narratives of displacement, identity, daily struggles, and society’s lack of diversity—while showing how individuals can engage in creating positive change.[.white]
