[.lightbox] A classic rap workshop provides participants with the necessary knowledge and the essential tools to write and perform rap. They gain an insight into the origins and evolution of hip hop and dress to address topics, form attitudes and use their voice in an alternative way that resonates with youth. The workshop will begin with a short presentation on the history of hip hop, after which the participants will be presented with a series of debate questions about rap and how the four elements of hip hop can be used to convey messages to broad audiences. They have to go through a series of exercises and play, write their own rap lyrics either as solo raps or as part of a rap group, and eventually have to perform their rap for the rest of the participants. The workshop is facilitated by two rap coaches who take the participants by the hand and guide them throughout the process. [.lightbox]
